20.3.0 - Support for all STM32 timers in all drivers on STM32F0/3/4

Postby drizzi » Thu Mar 19, 2020 2:37 pm

Hi,
yesterday I have started to look at 20.3.0, and I got excited by the following line in the release notes:

- Support for all STM32 timers in all drivers.

I hoped that I can finally stop patching HAL to have support for unsupported timers (that I have to use for AFIO reasons). But sadly my hope went unsatisfied. :-)

Are you planning to add full support for all the timers in a next release? Is there a planned release date?

Thank you, and have a nice day.

PS: great work!

Hi,

The mechanism is in place for all newest families: L0, L4, L4+, F7, H7, G0 and G4.

It will eventually be extended to the old/obsolete ones (F0, F1, F2, F3, F4, L1). If you want to give it a try look at the files stm32_isr.h/.c of the updated families and compare with the one you need.

It is not really complex but then you have to update all the mcuconf.h files with the new settings.

Thank you Giovanni for the quick response.
I have already noticed all the *.inc files. ;)

I have to decide between porting the old patches to the new HAL and moving to the new system. Probably I will give it a try.
Working from home these days gives me some (little) time more to spend.

Have a nice afternoon,
Davide
