Thanks for sharing :D
Is it an RGB one? Clearly you should add a touchscreen (remote)control :ugeek:

They are thinking to an RGB one with PWM drive for each channel, this one is monochrome but pretty cheap and smart, it is driven by an SPI and each board can drive a matrix of 8x8x16, the boards can be chained so with 4 boards you can do a 16x16x16.

Sounds good!
I just remember how I did a 4x4x4 monochrome LED cube back the days when I was young with some ATmega16... jesus that was nasty :D

It's a pleasure for us to build this cube. Really, i was been waiting for the start of this topic by cube's owner. Now we can spam about it  . We are going to build the third floor this night. We are building very slowly in order to check the right orientation of leds and to ensure the same distance between all of them.

Right now there is no much to see as the source code is very simple to help during assembly...

Good work :)

Hey Tectu, why don't you add support for 3D displays to GFX :D that would be a first for sure.

Lol, I just wanted to suggest that! :D
I mean how fancy would that be... a 16x16x16 RGB cube and you can dump animated .gif images on it :D

@RoccoMarco: Thanks for dumping images, please keep doing that, it's always nice to watch things like that :)
Maybe you want to use some piece of wood, bore the holes for the LEDs in it so you have a nice template to create layer by layer. That's how I did it back then. Here's some illustration.

Hi dear,
assemble a floor at once could create difficulties to keep floors at same distance. We build it line by line ensuring that all led centers are distanced equally from first near. I like 3d display idea .
I'm building third floor but i have to finish this boring thesis by this evening, so this night i'll continue the funny work :)
