There are 128 pins broken out on headers available.

Clearly, this time they used a 144-pin device, so lesser pin conflicts it seems.

But the question is: are they still bundling an audio codec this time? And what is the big black thing below the ST logo? [looks like some sensor]
Accelerometer is there, it seems, just above the LCD.

That black thing could be the transformer for the LCD backlight.

The mysterious black thing is not a transformer at all but a connector. It's used on other ST boards as well to hook up some antennas for their wireless eeprom stuff. you can simply plug in a 2.54mm pin header:

resset, can you write a GDISP driver ASAP? It's an ILI9340 on there, we already have a some ILI93xx drivers so there shouldn't be much to change beside display resolution and stuff like that.

Tectu, maybe I could, but I have no hardware to test code on. Also, I am not going to be able to order this board in very short time :(

Finally! :)

From the manual:

TFT LCD (Thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal display)
The TFT LCD is a 2.41" display of 262 K colors. Its definition is QVGA (240 x 320 dots) and
is directly driven by the STM32F429ZIT6 using the RGB protocol. It includes the ILI9341
LCD controller and can operate with a 2.8 ±0.3 V voltage.

64-Mbit SDRAM (1Mbit x 16-bit x 4-bank)
The 64-Mbit SDRAM is a high speed CMOS, dynamic random-access memory designed to
operate in 3.3 V memory systems containing 67,108,864 bits. it is internally configured as a
quad-bank DRAM with a synchronous interface. Each 16,777,216-bit bank is organized as
4,096 rows by 256 columns by 16 bits. The 64-Mbit SDRAM includes an AUTO REFRESH
MODE, and a power-saving, power-down mode. All signals are registered on the positive
edge of the clock signal, CLK.
The STM32F429ZIT6 MCU reads and writes data at 80 MHz.

This should give a lot of freedom to play with the LCD and load apps from an SD card to run them in the SDRAM.

It is nice to have lots of RAM but probably executing code from there would hurt performance. I think it is meant mainly as buffer for advanced graphics.

Hmm... Giovanni, probably we should put out some bounty for the first one who delivers full ChibiOS/RT + µGFX support :)
