That steps was need some years ago but now you just need to add yourself to standard "plugdev" group.

GTK totally rotten in version 3. Sad but true. You can read more here https://igurublog.wordpress.com/2012/11 ... in-threes/
For Eclipse users I would also recommend to delete all *.css files from "css" directory to achieve more native look.

Hi,

I was in plugdev but apparently also "dialup" is required.

Win10 is what triggered the transition for me so I haven't tried it that "linux".

The problem with Linux is exactly that, there is always something to fight with. Things got worse when they abandoned Gnome 2, it was mostly stable at that time.

If you ask me I would say that Ubuntu's "Unity" desktop is the best... It is really good for the crazy wide-screen monitors, so your Eclipse window would not look like a slit with five lines of code!

Honestly, just use Unity or KDE... (I switched from gnome to KDE 4 years ago)

Been using Linux daily for 10+ years, there almost no tweaking required nowadays.

To compile ChibiOS I just needed to install a package from ARM's PPA. (you need only one simple command to add a PPA)

Also everything compiles like 5 times faster.
I suggest that you get used to CLI for svn or git.

I stopped using Ubuntu, and Linux in general, when Unity become the default and Gnome2 disappeared. Unity was simply awful for me.

Is it any better now? anyway, I like traditional desktops.

Maybe I will give it a try again on my old netbook (one of those old Dell Mini 9, I bought it BECAUSE it had Ubuntu pre-installed ;) ).

Hi Giovanni

I'm using Linux Mint.
Please, could you share your experience and knowledge by dropping a step-by-step guidance for dummies how to get ChibiStudio working on Linux Mint?

Thanks Peter

Thanks this would be great, thank you vary much in anticipation.

Or would it be easier option to install the "AC6 System Workbench for STM32" (which is available for Linux) and then to add ChibiOS and the functionalities of ChibiStuidio to the AC6 System Workbench?
