Hi,
Just to share my experience, I finally installed Linux Mint on my desktop PC (I already had it on my very old notebook), I am recreating my programming environment and the first thing I noticed: it is like 20 times faster in compiling the ChibiOS projects in Eclipse, you don't see the make process scroll in the console, it just APPEARS like a flash, done.
As subversion client I installed RapidSVN, not nice like TortoiseSVN but fully functional.

Re: [INFO] Installed Linux Mint
Hi all,
It is a good idea, it will be very interesting for Linux users
What about creating a pkg to install ChibiStudio on linux?

Re: [INFO] Installed Linux Mint
hi,
The problem is that it would have hard coded paths inside, in my case /home/giovanni/Projects/ChibiStudio, the one-zip-fits-all approach would not work.
It is easy enough to install java, eclipse, gcc and openocd from PPAs.
I thinks it would be possible to create a single PPA with everything but I have no experience in that.

I am not expert too but as I know the 'home/Giovanni' could be replaced by ~. I have used terminal few times but
cd ~ usually point you to your home directory.
I hope that users experienced with linux could bring use a little bit of light.

Re: [INFO] Installed Linux Mint
I tried already, ~ is not accepted in Eclipse paths. The path is required by the CHIBIOS variable used by all projects.

Re: [INFO] Installed Linux Mint
Giovanni,
In linux you can use relative or absolute path!
example:
absolute can be: /var/ftp/...
relative : is a directory related to your current dir wich can be know by using pwd command.
So maybe you can use a relative path in eclipse? that will resolve the problem of using the relative home path(~).

Re: [INFO] Installed Linux Mint
I didn't have the opportunity to make a ppa. But I have read about it:
Using a ppa is a good alternative to your path problem.
You need the following:
1:
- Have the admin right.
- have an internet connection so that the package can be download at any time.
- install some packages such as: debhelper cdbs lintian build-essential fakeroot devscripts pbuilder dh-make debootstrap.
2: You need to create a lunchpad account
3: Create the ppa
4: Create the package sources of your software
5: Send the sources to lunchpad

Re: [INFO] Installed Linux Mint
Why don't provide a simple archive on sourceforge like a .tar or .7z for Linux distribution?
It is a simple solution, and the user will just have to configure the chibiosStudio according is environment.
