[INFO] Enough features for a major release

Postby Giovanni » Thu Nov 23, 2017 2:03 pm

Hi,

Info for the maintainers: I think we have enough new features for a new major release (18.1 most likely), please make sure to finish current work in few weeks so we can proceed. Please don't add anything new unless you are confident to be able to finish it in time.

Related to this: 16.1 will be phased out after this release, it will have one more service patch 16.1.10.

Release 17.6 happened after 1.5 years after 16.1, I want to move to a faster release cycle, 6 months should be fine.

New major releases are based on trunk, normal releases are based on stable branches.
