Hi Giovanni,

Sorry for the silence, I'm not receiving any notifications from the forum for some reason (even though they are enabled in my notification preferences). Right now I'm a bit behind my schedule, so I'm going to take a shortcut here. I am quite certain that the code you posted will work because it is logically equivalent to the workaround I posted earlier - I encourage you to compare it yourself.

Are you going to submit this fix upstream? Is it going to be backported to 16.x?

If it is confirmed to work without problems I will backport it to all branches, including 16.x.
