SVN Usage

Postby Tabulous » Wed Sep 06, 2017 9:21 am

Hi all
does anyone use SVN with chibistudio ?

Basically at the moment my projects are in the demos folder and backups are done via batch scripts(i.e. copy to another disk/folder)

I now want to put them under a version control system, i already have a SVN server running on my home server.

Just wondering if anyone has done similar with chibistudio?

Hi,

I use Tortoise SVN on Windows and Rabbit CVS on Linux.

You don't need to put your projects within the ChibiOS tree, you could "import" the ChibiOS tree inside your projects tree using an "svn external", probably you will need to import only the /os directory. Externals also allow to import code from specific positions and revision numbers, this means you can "freeze" a specific ChibiOS version if required.
