Compiling speed with Windows 10

Postby wurstnase » Wed Jun 27, 2018 5:29 pm

Hi all,

I had a lot issues with compiling speed. While Linux is always faster, the speed in Windows was incredible slow. Make clean takes up to one minute. I thought our companies security programs produce it. I tried a lot.

Finally I found the issue. I tried a different command line tool. cmder was fast, Ubuntu subsystem also. The standard CMD tool have a new "feature". https://stackoverflow.com/a/33883532/6621062

I simply disabled the QuickEdit function in CMD and it speeds up the build time extremely. Also with Eclipse.

Maybe this will help others...

My corporate laptop it is similarly slow and it uses Windows 7. It is perfectly secure of course but mainly because any productive activity is prevented by design...
