Compiler does not find the right HAL directory

Hello all,

I wanted to make an STM32F303R8 project, with a C++ main file. To do this, I copied the RT-STM32F407-DISCOVERY-G++ project, and replaced the board specific files with those from the STM32F303X8 files. I got this setup working, blinking LEDs using the F407 example code with different IO pins, so the complete toolchain seemed to be working.

Today I wanted to add SPI, but ran into a problem; the make process returns:

Pressing F3 on STM32_HAS_SPI3 in spi_lld.h shows me either the STM32F1 or STM32F4 version of stm32_registry.h. I guess this is just an issue with eclipses way of resolving the path, just as suggested here.

In order to find if the right HAL port was found I inserted this line:$(info $$PLATFORMINC is [${PLATFORMINC}]) in the makefile, which reports this in the console:

As you can see, it does find the correct path: ../../../os/hal/ports/STM32/STM32F3xx (my project is in C:\ChibiStudio\chibios161\demos\STM32\RT-STM32F303R8-SensorSlave).

What could be wrong? How can I diagnose further?

I think the problem could be found here:

I suppose SensorSlave is a custom board file. Usually in board file there is the definition of the MCU identifier, as example

That solved it, at least there are compiler errors that have to do with my own code now :roll: .

I had defined #define STM32F303x8 where indeed originally the text was #define STM32F303xE. Typical case of PEBKAC.... The comment says 'As defined in ST header'; which header file is that? Just curious...

Just a small update for potential future readers: I found out that the wrong definition came from the field 'Subtype' in the board.chcfg file. I ran the 'Generate file from configuration data' function today after changing a pin name, and got the same error back.

Where is a list of 'valid' values for the microcontrollers? Which .h file? Might be handy for future reference.
