Make an Interesting Project--LED Chaser

A simple LED chaser hobby circuit can be made using 555 timer and CD4017 counter IC. You can use this circuit for decorative purposes. By modifying the circuit in a proper way, you can even use this to control lights working on AC mains. Components Required CD4017 Counter IC – 1 555 Timer IC – 1 LED...

Should I use a resistor between an input pin of MCU/CPLD and VCC/GND?

Some times, I want my MCU or CPLD to input a static logic. So, I choose to tie it to VCC or GND. The problem is that should I put a resistor in series to limit the current? I just think by myself for a while and get my own answer: no! Take STM32F103 datasheet for instance,on page 86: https://i.stack...

Measuring time using an STM32F407VGT6 microcontroller

I'm using a custom board for charging and testing batteries. Its 'brain' is an STM32F407VGT6 microcontroller. I'm developing in Ubuntu (14.04.2 LTS), using ChibiStudio (ChibiOS/RT 3.0 development branch and Eclipse Kepler). While in charge mode, I need to see how much time has passed since I initial...
